Updating a cherished historic building is a job we take special pride in. Long Cove Builders’ respects and learns from the construction methods of times past, and we have actually added some of these techniques to our new work.

We start by examining how the building was originally constructed – from the basic design to how each piece was crafted and with what materials. Our research is done in the field and using historical records of this or similar buildings. Our goal is to learn how the original craftsmen constructed the building, down to the smallest detail.

Long Cove Builders works on behalf of the client with local historic preservation groups and town codes officials. We carefully choose materials to match the original or use more modern materials without compromising the character of the structure.

And most importantly, we’ll maintain clear communications with the client so that he or she will be involved as we go along.
